“What is the Purpose of Therapy?”
I
believe it is to break those unconscious patterns or programs that we have
been running, usually for a considerable period of time! The worst thing
about these programs is that they inevitable involve negative emotions and
often times limiting beliefs. Is that they happen outside conscious
awareness, We have set up a way of behaving that started somewhere in the
past, usually as a means of dealing with an unpleasant situation. The
bizarre thing is we continue to behave in the same when we are confronted
with situations in the present that are to the subconscious reminiscent of
the original situation although in reality the two have nothing in common.
It is a knee jerk reaction that is continued in an automatic way.
The purpose of therapy, therefore, is to break the
pattern and make the unconscious conscious! Once we do this we break the
pattern and we are freed from the automatic program. Once we do this we
realize we have many more choices than we ever thought we had and can now
choose a better way of dealing with life.
In my work I offer an array of therapies that all make
new and better choices possible. Some methods are better suited to some
people and others to others. EFT for instance is more outgoing and “yang” in
nature whilst TAT is more introspective and inward looking making it more “ying”.
On the other hand “The Journey” process as developed by Brandon Bays is
designed to delve into the emotions themselves and as we pass through the
layers of negative emotion, we eventually find a place of peace and
serenity. The Sedona Method works in a similar way, but with considerably
less emphasis on the emotions themselves.
I use the therapeutic intervention that seems best
suited for each individual, realizing we are all different. The object is to
perform the kinesiology hierarchy test. If this shows the priority lies on
the emotional level, we clear what requires clearing using whatever therapy
seems best suited for the requirements of the client and when we have
finished we test using the Clinical Kinesiology Priority mode. We are
finished only when the test says that the emotional priority is no longer a
priority.
