Biography

Hello there:

My name is Alister Bredée and I live and work in Thailand. I qualified as a hypnotherapist about 21 years ago. My word time does fly, doesn't it?

I opened my first practice in London's Kensington High Street in 1985 and moved on to Harley Street in 1987. However, I did have a problem and
that was I just was not getting the results I sought. The techniques I knew could help 30% of those who came to see me, but no more. So I started a search for new and more improved tools and that search has taken me up to this day.

In 1986 I looked at Kinesiology with particular reference to allergies but then explored Kinesiology itself with a wonderful man called Brian Butler. 1987 was the time of Marietta Higgs and all that stuff. I trained in Primary Cause Analysis with Hypnosis, and became one of the few therapists outside of Australasia looking at the effects of sexual abuse on the adult psyche. Particularly where hypnosis is involved. PCAH pre-supposed abuse issues, although these were never stated to the client. However, that means those pre-suppositions were in the therapist's mind when the client attended sessions. I think hypnosis is such a suggestive tool that thoughts of this kind can be transmitted to the client. All of us therapists need to be extremely careful when using hypnosis and altered states.

Anyway, I digress. In 1988 I attended a lecture on Electro-Magnetic Fields by Dr. Harry Howell and was so impressed I decided to study Holistic Medicine. Maybe, thought I the answer lie in the body and not the mind. But then we were all much more naive in the 80s. It
was an interesting course of study, and I began to see the mind body connection beginning to emerge more clearly. In the meantime I had teamed up with London's Capital Radio and we started doing “mass smoking cessation”, hypnosis sessions on "National No Smoking Day." They lined up around Euston Tower and were squeezed into studios like sardines and amazingly it all seemed to have some effect. Capital did a follow up study in 1988 and found that 59% of the participants were still not smoking a year after the session. The other day I read an article in the Irish Times stating that "Nicorette" is only 19% successful and that some wonderful new drug called Zyban was being used on smokers with an expected 30% success rate. I am afraid I had to smile, particularly as the drug in question had some fairly serious side effects.

We continued with the Mass Hypnosis Sessions until 1990. In that year a young ex-Capital Radio DJ called Paul McKenna joined the project. Between us we had a mass hypnosis session of over 400 people in a Tottenham Court Road Night Club. The Guinness Book of Records refused to
acknowledge this as a British record at the time, because they did not recognise hypnosis.
"..."C'est la vie.!

Anyway, in 1990 I moved to Dublin. After I received my qualification in "Holistic Health" and Clinical Nutrition. The Course evolved in energy healing by means of acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. But still the search continued; it took me to NLP and later "Time Line Therapy". I was much impressed by that and the work of Tad James, which was a very slick form of hypnosis that avoided the "H" word! In a matter of 4 or 5 sessions one could clear up the root cause and a whole host of negative emotions and limiting beliefs. About the same time I became a co-founder of a small holistic Centre called "Natural Solutions in Monkstown, Co. Dublin. Not only was this a venue from which to work but it afforded a place to teach myself and also bring in other teachers from around the world. In 1996 I met Dr. Roger Woolger, author of "Other Lives, Other Selves" and spent some time with him in Woodstock in up state New York. Rob Jayne and later Mary Haskins led Past Life Workshops based on Roger's work and this made possible two Teaching Seminars led by Roger himself in Ireland.

I started on the Reiki trail and became a Reiki Master in 1998 and spent time in Hawaii studying Hawaiian Huna with Tad James and Advanced Neuro Dynamics.I had also become a Member of the Council of Management of the Irish Association of Hypnotherapy/Hypnoanalysts. The organisation has subsequently become the "Institute of Clinical Hypnotherapy & Psychotherapy".

Natural Solutions closed down at the end of 1998, although I still retain the name for training purposes. 1999 was an "annus horriblis" for all sorts of reasons, which I won’t go into, but it all came right in the end and I moved to wondrous West Cork.

However, in the year 2000 I stumbled across another huge turning point, which I think is even more amazing than "Time Line Therapy" and that was TFT. Later I came across a simplified form that we know as EFT. I had a fair idea of how this all worked but went ahead and attended Tam Llewelyn-Edwards Training in Dublin which he along with Mary and others gave under the aegis of the Irish Institute of Clinical Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy. When I first came across Meridian Therapies earlier last year, I knew this was the way to go.

I introduced EFT to students on my last "Timelining" training where we compared and contrasted the two different approaches.

They all elected for EFT hands down and they all went on to attend a later training in the Marino Institute in Dublin. I have had a look at other meridian psychotherapies such as BSFF and AFT and never cease to be so grateful they we have these wonderful tools to make out work even better. The instant form of BSFF is very similar to the Hawaiian Huna concept of giving commands to the Higher  Self. I know Serge King talks about this and in 1999 I worked with Ziggy Pracher, who teaches Higher Self Therapy in Austria.

In 2001,Iwas fortunate enough to attend Gary Craig's Training Workshop in Flagstaff, Arizona. This has taken EFT to an entirely new dimension for me. Now I know all things are possible.

Later I studied TAT, or the Tapas Acupressure Technique, based on work formulated by California acupuncturist Tapas Fleming, which is also amazingly powerful. I am now a TAT certified trainer and was fortunate enough to co-host the first TAT European Conference held at Hellaby Hall in Yorkshire in 2004.

5 years ago I attended the First European Energy Psychology Conference in Switzerland.

I returned to Ireland to begin writing, “Full Circle”, which outlines my own Meridian Therapy Protocol which I have called “AMBIT”.

I presented this at the second European Conference in Oxford in August 2002

I am a therapist, trainer and the Administrator of the Thai Association for the Advancement of Meridian Techniques.

The TAAMT teaches Meridian Therapies EFT at three levels.

I invite you to join me for one of our trainings here in Thailand and in other parts of Asia.
