“AMBIT”
Alister’s Meridian Based
Integrative Therapy
This
site takes its name from the Meridian Therapy that I developed myself. As you
can see the name of the technique is “Ambit.” The word itself stands for
Alister’s Meridian Based Integrative Therapy.
What then is “Alister’s Meridian Based Integrative Technique?” (AMBIT)
Ambit means a boundary or circumference, a bit like a “Full Circle”, which
incidentally is the name of my book.
An Overview
AMBIT is a rapid technique for resolving negative
emotions, limiting beliefs and energy toxins. It is not a content-based
technique. In fact it is not necessary to discuss the causative events at all.
This avoids the possibility of installing any of the negative material and goes
a long way to avoiding uncomfortable and unpleasant abreactions.
How can it help me?
You can learn how to use this technique simply and swiftly and can apply it to
all those little or not so little niggles that occur on a daily basis.
How does it work?
AMBIT relies on the power of the unconscious mind,
bio-feedback from muscle testing and the clout of Chinese Medicine, which
insists that all “unwellness” is created by disharmony or lack of balance! It
works like this. When we look at the Meridian system we see that it runs like a
clock. Each meridian has a watch or period of heightened activity that lasts for
two hours. This is known as the “Meridian Wheel or Clock”. There are fourteen
meridians, but we concern ourselves principally with twelve of them, thus it
takes twenty-four hours for the energy to complete its cycle. The time segments
shown on the meridian wheel are the periods when Ch’i is at its highest
energetic level in each of the twelve channels.
The Meridian Clock:
Thus: Spleen and Pancreas energy is at its zenith between 9-11 am.

What do you notice? OK Heart is at peak power between 11am & 1pm. That goes
almost without saying. However, twelve hours later it is at its lowest ebb. We
are in the world of Yin and Yang where everything has its opposite. Notice that
11pm-1am is the peak performance period for the Gall Bladder. Thus when the Gall
Bladder is strongest the Heart is weakest, and vice versa. I consider The Gall
Bladder to be the reciprocal of the Heart. In other words it is the energetic
polar opposite.
The Five Element Theory:
Let’s examine this a little more closely. Heart is Yin whilst Gallbladder is
Yang. Gallbladder is Wood and Heart is fire. Fire burns wood and wood ignites
fire. They are opposite ends of a spectrum. The Heart is a Zang organ, this
indicates its function is to store, whilst the Gall bladder is designated Fu
meaning it’s a bowel or collecting space. Small Intestine is the Fire Yang to
Liver’s Wood Yin. Bladder is the Water Yang for the Lung’s Metal Yin. Water
rusts Metal, Metal discolours Water. Kidney is the Water Yin to Large
Intestine’s Metal Yang. Circulation-Sex is the Fire Yin to Stomach’s Earth Yang.
Remember fire can scorch Earth and Earth can extinguish Fire..
Triple Warmer is the Fire Yang and Spleen is the Earth Yin.
The point is that whenever there is too much Yin or too much Yang, too much
water or too little fire there is unbalance. How the condition has come about is
generally speaking immaterial. We are aware, however that it results from some
dereliction of the Tao. We eat badly, exercise insufficiently and subject
ourselves to stress of one kind of another that throws the energetic system out
of balance. The only thing of real importance is the condition exists. Our
concern is the solution and not the problem. Thus we use Yin to balance Yang and
opposing elements to balance one another. In disease we need to use a Yin cure
to heal a Yang illness. The same concept applies to negative beliefs, emotions
and other adverse conditions that exist in the mental and emotional sphere.
Putting it all Right:
To treat let’s say anger, we first of all ascertain from the body mind that it
is OK to do that now! The subject is then asked to think of whatever “anger”
means to him/her, whilst touching the end points of the meridians starting with
the bladder and working all the way to the small intestine (Karate Chop point).
As the subject touches the meridian end points the therapist tests a muscle. All
points are included. This includes Governing and Conception Vessel, which do not
fit into the two-hour watch system. Sometimes Governing Vessel or Conception
Vessel will test weak whilst a negative emotion, limiting belief, energy toxin
is being treated or during the installation of a positive state . The Governing
Vessel oversees all the Yang meridians in the body whilst the Conception Vessel
looks after the Yin. They act like bus bars or fuse centres. If there is a
problem with either of these you will first have to discern whether the
particular meridian is over or under energised. The way to do this is to ask
whilst muscle testing.
Kinesiology
In kinesiology, testing a muscle whilst touching a specific spot, in this case a
meridian end point, is referred to as TL or therapy localising. As anger is a
negative emotion it will weaken the meridians. However, as the meridian system
comprises a closed loop there will be a meridian that will be overenegised and
because of that causes the other meridians to be weak. When we find the strong
meridian we have a lot of information about the problem.
OK, so let’s be a lot more precise. Let’s say the Gallbladder tests strong. This
tells us it is overenergised. Just glancing at the Meridian Table gives us a lot
of additional information about this. For instance the table tells us that this
is a channel of rage, self-justified anger and control. So the reaction begins
to make sense. A Gallbladder in balance would promote “harmony”. This is lacking
in this example. Let’s take a peek at the “Meridian Clock”. This shows the Yin
opposite to Yang Gallbladder is Heart. The Heart promotes unconditional love. To
promote harmony we need to balance Heart and Gallbladder.
To release the blocked energy we need to bring the end points of these two
meridians together, gently agitate them by tapping one against the other to
stimulate the energy flow and maintain that posture whilst breathing deeply
until stability is achieved.
Patterns
Most if not all reporting symptoms are part of a behaviour pattern. A pattern
comprises many aspects of similar a mien each of which reinforces the one that
went before. To clear a pattern it is necessary to go back to the first or worst
event. This will be the place to start to take the energy out of the remaining
“gestalt”. Think of it as a string of pearls. When the string is removed the
pearls will scatter in all directions and the object itself will change.
When something comes to mind, and it’s usually the first thought, the subject is
asked to focus on whatever that is, whilst bringing together the end points of
the over-energised meridian and its reciprocal, because this action will isolate
the segment of the meridian wheel which is adversely affected by the problem.
Simply hold that position, until the intensity or SUDS decrease to 0. Voilเa
it’s as simple as that! In acupuncture terms we have sedated an overenergised
meridian and thus released a blockage in the wheel of energy.
Getting What you really Want:
Having flattened the negative emotion it is then possible to install a positive
one of the subject’s choice. So instead of “anger” she can have let’s say “joy”.
The question arises why doesn’t she have this anyway? Again the meridians
provide the clue. This time there will a specific meridian that is de-energised
by the positive characteristic. Again it is a simple matter of balancing it.
Once more we test all the meridians. The subject places a finger on the end
point and repeats the word “joy” whilst being muscle tested. In this case all
the points test strong, except for one which will be weak. It is strengthened in
just the same way as in the case of the negative emotion. Being brought together
with its reciprocal tones the weak point, and the system is then checked once
more. Let’s say the Large Intestine point located by the outside nail of the
Index finger tests weak. This indicates the person needs to let go, be a little
more spontaneous and less up-tight, and so a balance is attained by bringing the
Index Finger to its reciprocal point which is the Kidney meridian located on the
Collar Bones Points (K.27). Whilst holding the fingers on these points the
subject is asked to think of times when: she might have had joy in her life but
didn’t.
When your subject feels the positive state has been fully installed, test the
Large Intestine point once more, and now it should be strong. Notice once again
that the Large Intestine is related to the element metal and the Kidney with
water. A lack of joy suggests a watery, Yin state requiring a jolt of
communicative, fiery energy from the hotter and more volatile Yang.
In a nutshell this is how Ambit works. It might sound complicated but it is
really very simple. You can learn the technique yourself and bring it to bear on
those niggling problems that pop up on an incessant basis in life. Thus you have
